Narrative Writing

Reading activities for week 1 and 2

Weslandia literacy activities  
MUST DO activities
YOUR CHOICE activities

Nouns list
Create a table with three columns.  Label each one, Person, Place, Thing.
Find 5 examples of each from the Weslandia story.
Instead of ‘said’
Find a saying verb from the story. Write the word in large letters on an A5 size piece of paper to create mini poster for the wall.  Ensure it can be easily read and it looks good.
Main ideas
Record the six main ideas of the story with a brief explanation.  These six ideas should give a brief overview of the whole story.
Adjective imagery
Choose an adjective/s and its noun from Weslandia.  Create a poster displaying the text and an image that you think relates to the text.
Games
Film strip
Retell the story through 6-8 images on the filmstrip template.
Adverbs List
Create a table with six columns.  Label them, When?, Where?, How?, How much?, How long?, How often?   Find 3 examples of each type of adverb from the story.
Vocabulary

Character inference
Use the character fold out to create your own image of Wesley.  On the inside of the fold out, describe the characteristics of Wesley and give examples from the story.
